PHC Project

Portland Habilitation Center Northwest (PHCNW) is a non-profit Qualified Rehabilitation Facility (QRF). Their mission is to train and employ individuals with disabilities that seek opportunities for meaningful work and lives.Real Energy Solutions as Commercial Solar Ventures was instrumental in procuring and structuring the financing to complete this third-party financed solar project in the northwest. This record setting project, on the roof of the Portland Habilitation Center’s (PHC) new 110,000 square foot manufacturing structure was a two year process in which many legal, accounting, banking and energy related entities gained exposure to the Oregon Flip, a modified Power Purchase Agreement. To many, this $7.5 million, 858 Kilowatt project, set precedent for the solar industry in Oregon. Although some partnership flips had been completed in other states, each state and utility incentive has a different impact on project development and cash flow.In partnership with PHCNW, US Bank and others, CSV employed a financing solution for this picture perfect installation not previously utilized in solar. The hardware used included approximately 4,800 Day 4, 180 Watt modules as well as seven (7) SMA 125 Kilowatt inverters. Dynelectric was the General contractor and system installer. The installation was completed and commissioned in October of 2008 with many bright years ahead.

East Portland Community Center

Real Energy Solutions as Commercial Solar Ventures acted as Developer for the City of Portland Parks and Recreation’s East Portland Community Center (EPCC) solar project in collaboration with BEF Renewable Inc., Portland General Electric, Sentry Financial, the Energy Trust of Oregon This development process resulted in the first platinum LEED certified natatorium in the nation. The pool house is so efficient that it warms the pool by recapturing the heat generated off the pool’s mechanical systems. The 5kW solar electric system offsets the building’s power usage by 12% while a six panel solar thermal system pre-heats water for the showers. The structure was designed by SERA Architects, in order to accommodate the solar system. The project utilizes Sanyo HIT 200 and 205 Watt modules as well as three PV Powered 30 Kilowatt inverters. The solar hot water system includes a 200 gallon tank paired with six Heliodyne Gobi collectors. Combined, these systems are expected to offset over one hundred thousand kilowatt-hours of electricity consumption; Gen-Con was contracted for the solar hot water installation. EC Company was the General Contractor and installer for the photovoltaic system.

Groundwater Solar

Real Energy Solutions, as Commercial Solar Ventures, acted as Developer for the City of Portland Water Bureau’s Ground Water Solar Project in collaboration with BEF Renewable Inc., Portland General Electric, Sentry Financial, The Energy Trust of Oregon. The 267 kW, 2.2 million dollar solar photovoltaic installation and investment for the Portland Water Bureau will offset peak load and provide power ate on of the city’s pumping stations. The installation is a ground-mounted system in an open watershed field at their NE Airport Way Pump Station.
It was commissioned in December of 2009 as planned. The General Contractor and installer was Renewable Systems Group, EC Company.

The Ecotrust Natural Capital Center

More than the nation’s first Gold LEED rated restoration of a historic building, the Natural Capital Center is considered by many the epicenter of Sustainability in Portland. Amongst other sustainable enterprises, this building is the headquarters for Ecotrust, an organization which integrates public and private, for profit and non profit structures. The Ecotrust mission is to "Inspire fresh thinking that creates economic opportunity, social equality and environmental well being." Some examples of Ecotrust's achievements include; co-founding the world's first environmental bank, starting the world's first ecosystem investment fund as well as creating a range of programs in fisheries, forestry, food, farms and children's health.Real Energy Solutions as Commercial Solar Ventures, developer with Stoner Electric as installer completed the 36.75 Kilowatt system which consists of 210 Solar World 175 Watt modules designed with awnings around existing green roofs. This installation offsets 10% of the 70,000 sq. ft. building's electricity load. (See Latest News Tab for a detailed description in the article titled, Ecotrust Walks the Talk.)

Hood River Solar

Real Energy Solutions developed a 16.56kW System at this telecommunications base station after completing a feasibility study. A “second” pitched roof acted as racking at this windy location where a small wind turbine is phase two in a process to reach an approximately 100% renewable powered on grid system.

Hawaii Projects

Real Energy Solutions developed Solar systems for three cell sites in Hawaii after completing feasibility studies.
